Hello!

I'm Diane

Health & Wellness Coach: Lifestyle & Behavior Change.

Educator: Mobility, Mindset, Pain & Stress Reduction.

Kinesiologist. Teacher. Coach. Researcher. Healer.

I have been working with clients and students for 25+ years in Mind-Body health, assisting hundreds of students to gain control over their own wellbeing. My specialty is in science-based stress management practices, biomechanics, and ergonomics. I am known for creating adaptive, restorative mobility and strength techniques and teaching science-based brain-repatterning protocols for stress & pain management.

By providing simple technical & practical lessons, I equip my clients to gain a sense of control over their wellbeing - while they learn what to do for themselves to move better, feel better and regulate stress.

My goal is to equip clients with life-changing self-care skills so they no longer need me! I collapse my own decades of research for others - into only days or weeks - so they may gain control and improve wellbeing quickly.

MY STORY & HEALING TESTIMONY:

My journey began when I developed Fibromyalgia in my mid-twenties, after years as an athlete, ballerina, and very active human. I had experienced some injuries over the years, plus a few back pain episodes - but this was very different. I could pinpoint the onset of my overwhelming chronic body pain to when I took a desk job and my physical activity levels dropped significantly, coupled with high mental stress levels. When I sought help (in the 90s) there was little known about this type of condition and there were few medical options, except pharmaceuticals. Finally, with no hope from our medical system, I decided to go back to graduate school to study human anatomy & movement, convinced that I possessed the key to healing already, within my own body (and I was right). During graduate school, I had supportive mentors and professors. I even wrote a complex Fibromyalgia-related research) in my pursuit for answers. The medical researchers did not have definitive answers then, and they really still don't. While studying and teaching at California State University, I had access to brilliant Eastern AND Western health practitioners. Using aquatic exercise as a healing mobility tool, I began to find a pathway out of pain, exhaustion and brain fog. During those first 10 years, I tried 1000 methods and I managed my life around work and medical appointments. I pursued help from physical therapy, psychological counseling, orthopedic specialists, acupuncture, nutritional changes, chiropractic, massage therapy and much more - some things worked and some did not help. In my pain and exhaustion, I said "No" to MANY fun times with friends because I could not tolerate the long car ride, a bumpy boat ride, or so many normal activities - or I simply felt lousy. It has been a journey for 25 years-- and I gradually improved -- as I researched and tried so many methods. Finally, 12 years ago during a professional movement training to improve my skills, I became PAIN FREE! I call it the "hand of God" and will be forever grateful to my Mentor Jill Miller for introducing me to the missing elements that I needed. Today, I still pay attention to any signs of dis-ease and make adjustments, but I feel fantastic and almost never say "no" to activities or fun! Life is GOOD :)

Twenty-five years ago, when the only answer from the medical community was anti-depressants, the concrete clear message from holistic, natural healers was that stress related chronic conditions absolutely required a MULTI-PRONGED Mind-Body APPROACH, to include addressing:

*PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

*SLEEP HABITS,

*TRAUMA (mindset, purpose, unresolved emotional issues, etc.),

*NUTRITION and

*STRESS REGULATION.

This was my successful multi-pronged approach then AND now. About 10 years after I began my journey, scientists discovered the Blue Zones (areas around the globe where people live to 100+ with little disease). I was already incorporating most of the 9-points of the Blue Zones philosophies for longevity into my teaching, and still combine these philosophies.

I now lead a fully active life full of joy, activity and zest - no longer canceling plans or setting my schedule around my levels of pain. This journey fueled my passion to reach others. My mission is all about empowering others to learn how to take the driver's seat in their own health to improve mindset, pain, posture & performance for overall wellbeing and longevity.

WHO ARE MY TYPICAL STUDENTS & CLIENTS?

  • Clients who proactively

seek to take charge of their own wellbeing to improve their body or mind health.

  • Sedentary/seated, mid-life office workers who feel stress, burnout, and often pain, aches, stiffness, but aim to learn to feel better in their own body.

  • Anyone who seeks easy methods to better regulate & manage stress but cannot be still to meditate (or dislike it).

  • People fearful of (re)injury at the gym, but aware of their loss of mobility & strength who need a bridge back to gentle strengthening to regain confidence & physical activity.

  • Post-rehab patients or those managing chronic issues such as neuro-muscular or degenerative pain conditions.

  • Athletic students aiming to learn self-care techniques to avoid injury, fine-tune mechanics, or better support their workout recovery.

“The first time I used Therapy Balls, I felt like I just had a massage- but I did it myself and I was so impressed!  Recently, I attended a Lower Body mobility session; worried about it because I was experiencing low back pain & discomfort--but I afterwards, I had NO back pain!  I highly recommend this form of “self-help”

MY MISSION:

To create space for informed growth, to educate and liberate people of ALL abilities for empowerment over their own health, resulting in a harvest of wellbeing benefits.

Here are a few fun personal facts…

I’m originally from Western New York State with roots in the magnificent Adirondack mountain region. I love to travel, both within the US and internationally and spent half of my life living outside of WNY. Each place has its own wild charms, crazy weather events, but most importantly amazing ways to enjoy nature...

Hiking, nature walks, sailing, and kayaking are my favorite free time adventures. Both sides of my family (including myself) have history in professional cooking, baking, and catering so - this comes in very handy with some of my Coaching clients who seek to shift their food selection and cooking styles. Because of this, I have always had some type of garden wherever I live...
